The number of alternatives to fossil fuels has increased in recent years, and car manufacturers believe that the EU should not only pursue electric vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions.
It is the goal of the EU Commission to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2035. To achieve this goal and fully transition to electric vehicles, more charging stations are needed in the Grand Duchy, believes the Belgian-Luxembourgish automobile federation FEBIAC.
The statement notes that aspirations alone are not enough to achieve a successful transition. There are plans to have 3.5 million charging stations ready by 2030, but experts believe that twice as many would be needed.
Car manufacturers thus argue that the EU should not only focus on electric cars, but also on other alternatives to fossil fuels. For instance, synthetic petrol has been shown to significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
