A standard arrest of a young man in Wiltz was complicated somewhat after the suspect's friends intervened.

On Wednesday evening, Wiltz police attempted to arrest a young man suspected of having participated in a robbery.

Officers stopped the suspect at around 8pm. The suspect promptly fled, but was located shortly afterwards. When officers attempted to take him into custody, the young man's friends intervened in order to prevent his arrest.

Police reinforcements were called to the scene as a result of the group's intervention.

The suspect eventually surrendered the stolen items. An investigation revealed he was in fact a minor who had recently left the youth detention facility in Dreiborn.

Two other suspects, a minor and an adult, were also identified during the investigation. The Diekirch prosecutor was informed of the case, and the main suspect was returned to the Dreibon centre.
