The ministry has issued an appeal for people to visit their general practitioners in order to receive the preventive measure, which is free of charge.
Mostly concerned are employees working in the health sector, at-risk people aged over 65, as well as pregnant women. It is also recommended that people working in close contact with clients should get vaccinated.
The Ministry believes that the shot will help relieve some of the pressure on the national health sector, which is currently struggling to keep up with new Covid patients.
Back in October, the Luxembourgish pharmacists association announced that a shortage in flu jabs had occurred after demand, both here and abroad, had significantly risen this year. Minister of Health Paulette Lenert later announced that additional doses were on their way to the Grand Duchy.
