On Thursday morning, the vice-president of the hunting federation was a guest at RTL Radio.

The hunting federation has little understanding for being classified as a recreational activity in the context of the partial lockdown. Vice-president Studer emphasised that the seasonal hunting period in December is essential to fulfil the required annual quota, which is now expected to drop by 40 to 50%.

The Saint-Hubert hunting federation is currently evaluating the legal grounds for the government measure. An extensive plan with sanitary regulations was presented to the Ministry of Health, and so far, no significant incidents have occurred over the past weeks of the hunting season, Studer further noted.

Nevertheless, the dialogue between government and hunting federations remains tense: "Hunting does not gather large amounts of support, and I understand that Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development Carole Dieschbourg has to satisfy her voters."

Studer also commented on the accusation of commercialising hunts in Luxembourg, explaining that the activity was in no way financially profitable.
