Kiesch was sentenced for murder in Luxembourg back in the year 2000, but spent 16 years on the run before being detained in Spain.
On 6 July 2022, Luxembourg's public prosecutor's office was informed that Kiesch had once again been returned to a penitentiary in Spain after being released in September 2021. At the time, prosecutor general Martine Solovief said it was a frustrating development.
The prosecutor's office confirmed Kiesch had been returned to prison on 29 June 2022 in Spain, where he will serve the remainder of his sentence - 3,275 days.
Kiesch was sentenced to 20 years in prison on 26 October 2000, following charges for murder and arson in January 1999. Five years of the sentence were to be accompanied by suspended probation.
By the end of October 2004, Kiesch was on the run after failing to return to prison in Luxembourg following penal leave. He was finally arrested in Punta Umbria, Spain, on 10 August 2020, following a European arrest warrant.
