Only 8 months after suffering a cruciate rupture, the 25-year-old celebrated an impressive comeback after taking down the European Karate Championships in Guadalajara, Spain.

Luxembourg's Jenny Warling went big during the European Karate Championships this weekend, securing the gold medal in the below 55kg weight category. She won her final confrontation against Turkey's Tuba Yakan 5:4 - an impressive victory against a strong opponent: Yakan had won the championships in 2017.

It was the first major competition for the young karate talent after suffering a cruciate rupture 8 months ago. The gold medal comes with several other advantages: the victory sees her qualified for the European Games in Minsk in June and improves her chances of qualifying for next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Minister of Sport Dan Kersch congratulated Warling for her excellent result and impressive comeback. "What a great feat," he wrote, "to have 5 victories in a row, one more impressive than the other." He added that Luxembourg was proud to have an athlete of her caliber in its ranks and wished her all the best for the rest of the season.
