After the TdF 2018, Great Britain has six victories in the bag, all of them after 2012, when Bradley Wiggins won the famous cycling race.
In 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Chris Froome was the winner and this year it’s Geraint Thomas.
Luxembourg’s first victory was in 1909, when François Faber won the race as one of the first cyclists to take the prized yellow jersey who was not French.
Nicolas Frantz was the winner in1927 and 1928, followed by Charly Gaul in 1958. The last victory for Luxembourg was in 2010 with Andy Schleck.
With 6 victories, Great Britain is in 5thplace behind Italy (10), Spain (12), Belgium (18) and France (36). Luxembourg is now 6th, followed by the USA (3), the Netherlands and Switzerland (2 each) and Germany, Australia, Denmark and Ireland (1).
Lance Armstrong (USA) has been stripped of the 7 titles he won between 1999 and 2005 but they have not been allocated to any other cyclist. Floyd Landis, who won the TdF in 2006, had to relinquish his title in favour of Oscar Pereiro.
During WWI and WWII, the TdF could not take place.
Thus there was a break from 1915 to 1918 and again from 1940 to 1946.
