A rather critical work accident occurred on Thursday morning in the German city of Trier, just over the border from Luxembourg.

A construction worker fell by four metres after the scaffolding he had been standing on collapsed. The collapse occurred at 8.20 am on Paulinstraße. The man was trapped by parts of the scaffolding following the collapse.

Passers-by at the time of the accident were able to help free the man, who was critically injured and taken to hospital. The worker also had severe head injuries. No passers-by sustained any injuries.

Several other construction workers were in shock following the accident and received medical treatment. Police officers and firefighters were at the scene. It is unclear how the collapse occurred.
