A new study led by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) has found that regular physical activity reduces the risk of contracting a serious case of coronavirus.
A total of 452 volunteers between the ages of 31 and 51 were chosen to participate in the study, recording the extent of their physical activity each day over the space of a year.
Confirming widely-held suspicions, the Predi-Covid study found that those participants doing physical activity regularly were less likely to suffer serious symptoms of Covid-19.
The Predi-Covid study was a cooperation between the LIH and a number of Luxembourgish research institutions, from the Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg (IBBL) and the Laboratoire National de Santé (LNS) to the University of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) and the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL).
The full study was published in BMJ Open, a medical research journal.
