Motorists should prepare for delays and diversions on the A1 motorway near Hamm from 14-17 November, due to a planned closure for infrastructure work.

The A1 motorway towards Luxembourg City will see traffic disruptions from late Friday, 14 November, due to essential repair work on the bridge over the Schaffner roundabout.

The National Roads Authority will be replacing the structure's expansion joints, with work scheduled to begin at around 11pm on Friday, 14 November, and conclude by 4am on Monday, 17 November.

During this period, traffic on the A1 will be reduced to a single lane in both directions, with a reduced speed limit of 70 km/h. To facilitate the work, several access points will be closed.

The slip roads from the Hamm interchange onto the A1 in both directions will be inaccessible. Motorists seeking to access the A1 from this interchange will be redirected via a signposted diversion using the N2A, N1A, N1, and the Senningerberg interchange.

Authorities note that preparatory work will begin a few hours before the main repairs, meaning traffic disruptions are expected from late Friday afternoon.
