The Grouft Tunnel on the A7 motorway has been temporarily closed in both directions following the sighting of a wild boar.
Initially reported inside the tunnel, the wild boar has since been observed outside the tunnel, seemingly searching for an exit along the perimeter fence. It remains uncertain whether this is the same animal initially reported.
For safety reasons, authorities have opted to close the Grouft Tunnel to traffic in both directions, leading to congestion on the A7 motorway.
This incident mirrors a similar occurrence on 23 November 2018, when the A7 near Roost had to be closed due to a herd of wild boar entering the motorway during a drive hunt. At that time, inadequate fencing was identified as a contributing factor.
Based on information from geoportail.lu, there is currently no ongoing hunt in the vicinity of the A7 motorway.
