The police have reported details about two accidents that occurred on Saturday in Hesperange and Esch-sur-Alzette.

Shortly after 1 am in Esch-sur-Alzette, a driver crashed his car into a tree. The impact knocked the tree over onto the street. The driver tested positive for alcohol, the driver's licence was confiscated on the spot.

Alcohol was also the cause of an accident in Hesperange. At 7.15 pm a drunk driver lost control of his car and collided head on with an oncoming car. He, too, had to hand in his licence.

Over the weekend, seven drivers in total were tested positive for alcohol by police patrols. Controls took place in Schengen, Petange, Remerschen and in Potaschberg. They had either caused accidents or attracted the police’s attention as they were driving in a dangerous way.
