The Environment Agency and the Customs and Excise Agency conducted a series of inspections on cross-border waste shipments in Luxembourg throughout October.
These checks covered a total of 124 vehicles. Of these, 49 were identified as having various points of non-compliance with current European waste transportation regulations. A total of 79 infractions were documented and subsequently penalised, as announced by the Environment Agency in a recent press release.
The detected infringements encompassed issues such as missing documents, incomplete documentation, and a lack of proper authorisation.
The Environment Agency stresses that any professional entity, regardless of its size, engaged in waste transportation must have the necessary transport registration or authorisation and other essential documents, which serve the purpose of verifying the nature and destination of the transported waste.
These inspections were conducted at multiple locations, including the A3 and A6 motorways, N31, Wemperhardt near the Belgian border, the Howald customs centre, Friedhof, and areas between Frisange and Hellange, close to the French border.
