Environment minister Joëlle Welfring presented a new project for a Grand Ducal regulation to review recycling processes.

According to the project, recycling centres are to be revamped around the country, with collection points installed for secondhand objects. The items would be checked at the centre, before being exhibited for re-use. In particular, the Ministry is considering items such as toys, books, CDs, bicycles and electrical appliances for these collection points.

Citizens will also be able to obtain information at centres on how to use products sustainably, as well as learn about recycling and the circular economy.

Staff will receive additional training to help with the conversion of recycling centres into resource centres.

Since 1 January 2023, municipalities have been prohibited from using single-use plastic tableware at public events, including plastic cups.
