Delhaize has pulled a spatula off its shelves due to potential toxic materials.
The supermarket chain advises customers to refrain from using the spatula and to return the item to stores.
In a notice issued by the Government Commissariat for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety, the spatula is said to contain excessive amounts of primary aromatic amines (or PAA for short).
PAA are chemical products derived from ammonia, which can prove toxic in certain conditions. However, they are considered to present a low level of health hazard.
