Saturday saw the long awaited finals of the national basketball cup, with Etzella Ettelbruck winning the men's encounter and BBC Gréngewald ending up victorious in the women's game.

Men's final

4,500 people made their way to the National Sports and Culture Centre on Saturday evening to witness the finals of the Basketball cup.

Etzella Ettelbruck won the men's final against Basket Esch with 79:65 (16:21, 19:11, 19:15, 25:18). It was the first cup win for Etzella since 2019. Over the years, they won 25 out of 35 finals.

Last year's winner Esch had the upper hand during the start of the encounter, but Etzella began controlling the game in the second quarter. Although Esch's Clancy Mac Rugg was the MVP of the game with 23 points, Etzella displayed the better team performance, which allowed them to come out on top in the end. Philippe Gutenkauf was their best player with 18 points, ten rebounds, and four assists.

Women's final

In the women's final, BBC Gréngewald left little chance to Sparta Bertrange as the encounter ended 71:60 (15:18, 14:22, 22:5, 20:15). Although Sparta displayed a dominant first half, the lead that they managed to build disappeared quickly after a succession of quick points from Gréngewald after the break.
