According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health, Covid infections decreased by a third during the first week of August.

Last week, four people died after having contracted Covid-19. Their average age was 85 years.

1,310 people tested positive for the coronavirus between 1 and 7 August. 6,300 tests were made during that period, a drop of 34% compared to the previous seven days.

The incidence rate was 203. Most infections occurred in the 30 to 44 age group.

14 people were hospitalised due to a positive infection last week, three fewer than during the previous seven days. Two patients were treated in the intensive care unit. The average age of hospital patients was 65 years.

More than 5,000 people received a second booster shot last week. 78.9% of Luxembourg's eligible population are considered vaccinated.

Health officials also issued a reminder that the Victor Hugo vaccination centre in Limpertsberg will close its doors again on Saturday. People who still want to be inoculated should therefore seek assistance from a GP or the mobile vaccination bus. More information regarding Covid-19 vaccines can be found on this website.

Next week, there will be no seven-day review of  Covid statistics due to an annual leave period.
