In a new motion, MPs envision to increase civic engagement in Luxembourg by allowing citizens to draft and file their own law proposals.

Citizens will soon have the chance of drafting and filing their own law proposals. If certain criteria are met, the Chamber will have to discuss and potentially even pass the proposal.

Furthermore, another pending change will allow the Chamber of Deputies to launch an enquiry commission if a minimum of 20 MPs agree with a motion. Previously, a majority had to approve the respective commission.

These changes will be valid once the constitution comes into effect.

MPs Mars Di Bartolomeo (LSAP), Simone Beissel (DP), Charles Margue (the Greens), Léon Gloden (CSV), and Roy Reding (ADR) cooperated to draft the new law proposals.
