Fischbach in the Mersch canton is one of 22 geo sites that belong to the region.

UNESCO may award the Mullerthal region the title of Global Geoparks in mid April. The respective application was filed in November 2020, and two foreign experts came to assess the sites in Autumn last year. They provided local officials with a list of recommendations after their visit.

UNESCO received a total of 18 applications, out of which eight made the short list, including the one filed for the Mullerthal region. The title would mean international recognition for the sites and make them even more attractive for tourists.
