Next to RTL's antenna in Beidweiler, in the municipality of Junglinster, stands a huge solar park.
The park produces electricity from solar energy. Beidweiler and Junglinster together have a total of 30,000 solar panels, distributed over two areas of 52,000 square metres and 133,000 square metres.
This installation is a collaboration between BCE, the company that operates the RTL transmitters, the RTL Group and the municipality of Junglinster. The two sites will produce electricity for about 10,000 inhabitants. That is enough to supply the municipality of Junglinster with green electricity.
Energy at the Junglinster and Beidweiler sites is produced by a photovoltaic system. In harmony with nature conservation, 10 megawatt hours of electricity are produced in this way on the greenfield.
The plant in Beidweiler can produce renewable electricity for over 20 years.
