The Anne Beffort European School in Mersch will welcome its first students in September.
In a first phase, the school wants to focus on teaching students at secondary school level. But in the future, both primary and secondary school students will be able to attend the school located in the centre of Mersch.
So far, a total of 2,450 students are enrolled in European schools in Luxembourg. There are four in total, located in Differdange/Esch-sur-Alzette, Mondorf, Junglinster, and Clervaux respectively.
In order to meet the ever-increasing demand, the state council decided to open a fifth school in central Luxembourg. Students will graduate with a European Baccalaureate (EB).
In 2022, the Mersch institution is to become a boarding school, offering students the option to stay there during the week. From this point onwards, the school will be able to welcome a total of 1,200 new students.
