The traditional "Éimaischen" festival will not be held in 2021, announced Mayor of Luxembourg City Lydie Polfer on Wednesday morning.
The 2020 edition also fell victim to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Emaischen and Péckvillercher - Luxembourg's Easter tradition
The Éimaischen festival is traditionally held on Easter Monday in the village of Nospelt as well as in the capital. It mainly consists of a craft market where the famous Péckvillercher, small clay birds that reproduce the cry of a bird when you blow into them, are sold.
However, the municipal authorities of Luxembourg City would like to offer those interested the opportunity to buy a Péckvillchen. To this end, they are appealing to owners of currently unoccupied shops to make their premises available for this purpose. In this way, the tradition will be maintained, Polfer suggested.
