Hinterscheid has made the decision to retire from local politics in order to make way for the younger generation, according to Tageblatt.

Henri Hinterscheid was an elected member of the Esch-sur-Alzette municipal council for 20 years, and served as alderman for 15 years.

He will attend his last council meeting on Friday, before handing over his seat on 9 November to Stéphane Biwer, vice president of the local LSAP branch.
