On the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office, police carried out alcohol checks in Roodt-sur-Syre and Ersange between 9.30 pm and 11.15 pm on Friday evening.

A total of 249 drivers were checked. In five cases, the alcohol test came back positive. Police confiscated two driving licences on the spot.

Another driver had to hand in his licence shortly before midnight in Luxembourg City. A car had been reported to police because it was seen driving erratically in Quartier de la Gare. Police pulled the car over and checked the driver. The alcohol test came back positive and turned out to be almost double the legal amount, which resulted in the immediate confiscation of the driving licence.

Another driver overtook a police car at the junction in Rue de Muhlenbach in Luxembourg City at about 1 am on Saturday morning. Police decided to check the driver, who also turned out to be inebriated and had to hand in his licence.
