Minister of Equality Taina Bofferding present the key aspects of the Luxembourg's new equality action plan earlier this Friday.
According to Bofferding, the new action plan for equality between men and women (PEGA) includes a number of key measures and goals to be achieved over the coming years. Among the key priorities is the multi-faceted battle against sexism, stereotypes, and domestic violence. The plan is also hoped to incite the public to take a more active role in politics, and to improve equality in the education sector.
The ministry devised the action plan after collecting suggestions from public institutions, business chambers, and associations as well as representatives from the social sector. The wider public was also given the opportunity to give recommendations. A public survey collected around 1,800 testimonies within 3 weeks.
The action plan will be updated every three years.
