Police patrols are continuing to monitor nightlife following the recent resurgence of coronavirus infections.

The new cases of infection have mainly been traced back to parties and private gatherings or in bars. The police announced they would continue to check nightlife establishments and reminded businesses of the midnight curfew.

Over the last week, six establishments were found to have violated the regulations. These violations are punishable with a fine of up to €4,000. For repeat offenders, the fine will be doubled. In the event of refusal to comply, the Ministry can proceed to the administrative closure of the establishment concerned.

Police patrols have also been checking outdoor spaces, such as popular barbecue spots, and have been monitoring the potential organisation of unauthorised parties in more rural areas.

Masks are mandatory on public transport and in public areas where a safe distance cannot be maintained. Offenders can be fined €145 for ignoring these rules.
