Fixed speed cameras may be a relatively new addition to Luxembourg's arsenal in the fight against speeders but the country is already on track to become a European champion in terms of motorist surveillance.
According to a recent Statec study, Luxembourg occupies the 10th place on a list of countries with most speed cameras per km2.
With its 26 fixed radars, 6 mobile radars, a trailer radar and an average-speed camera that will be operation soon, the Grand Duchy positions itself ahead of France, which came 11th (6.3 radars per 1000 km2).
Belgium leads the pack of our neighbouring countires with an average of 67.6 radars per 1000 km2.
Italy still has most radars on its roads. Better not speed to that pizzeria during your next holiday.
