The Landesverband union held an exceptional congress on Monday to discuss the future of the federation, namely its work with fellow union OGBL (Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation) on Monday.

During the congress, 76.2% of participants voted in favour of "an intensification and safeguarding" of the cooperation with OGBL.

If OGBL also vote in favour of the intensified cooperation, Landesverband will be integrated into OGBL on a provisional basis from July next year until 2024. A permanent integration will be possible after that.

A representative of Landesverband stressed that they were nevertheless planning on remaining autonomous.

Two weeks ago, President Georges Merenz said in an interview with RTL that Landesverband would exist forever. The cooperation with OGBL, he explained, was a way to be strengthened as a union without losing their own identity.
