14 products, gifts or prizes were pulled from stalls at the Schueberfouer as they represented a security risk.

Among the products banned were laser pointers and novelty lighters, said the Luxembourg Institute of Standardisation, Accreditation, Safety and Quality of Products and Services (Ilnas) on Wednesday.

The majority of the non-conforming products identified by Ilnas at the fair merely had issues with administrative compliance and did not pose any dangers to consumers.

ILNAS is a public administration under supervision of Minister of the Economy Étienne Schneider, ensuring that the provisions of legislative acts concerning the conformity of non-food products are respected in order to protect consumers and to avoid unfair competition.
