A mortar shell was discovered in a field between Eselborn and Weicherdange on Tuesday afternoon. The army's bomb disposal unit was immediately contacted to dispose of the Second World War era projectile.
The unit defused the bomb and evacuated it in a timely fashion.
The police took the opportunity of the event to remind the public that if anybody finds any munitions or something they suspect to be munitions, they should not touch it at all.
Instead, the police advise residents to contact 113 to allow the police to swiftly set a security perimeter while calling in the army's expert unit.
