Residents of Leudelange aren't just voting in the European elections this Sunday, but also on the future of their own electoral district.

Residents voted on whether the municipality will change electoral district or not. Currently Leudelange falls into the southern voting constituency.

Given the positive result of the vote (59.41% in favour of changing electoral district), Leudelange has become the second municipality after Kopstal to set on the path to change district.

The initiative to change constituency was put forward by the opposition party in the council, under the title "Together for Leudelange".

However, the municipality and the government are not necessarily bound to follow the result of the referendum.
