Belgian commuters have eagerly been waiting this particular piece of news: all E411 lanes are to reopen on Tuesday.
On-going works since last September between Arlon and Sterpenich (Luxembourgish border) meant that the E411 was frequently home to monster traffic jams throughout the winter of 2018/2019.
According to Sofico, the nightmare is finally coming to an end this Tuesday, as all lanes will reopen in both directions.
Warning: the speed limit in Luxembourg is set to 90 km/h until 7 May. That is also the day from which the carpool lane should be accessible to vehicles carrying three or more people in case of traffic jams. Here, the speed will be limited to 50 km/h.

As you can see from our photographer's snapshots, cameras have been installed to ensure that motorists will comply with these regulations. Those who do not will be fined €58.
Twenty "refuge areas" have also been added to the 11 km stretch in order to allow broken down or vehicles ‘in distress’ to be protected from traffic.
