The government officially acknowledged osteopathy as a health profession last year, with practising osteopaths still submitting applications to the ministry before 31st March 2019.

Osteopathy was officially recognised by the government as a health profession in Luxembourg on 21 August 2018, placing it on equal footing with other health practices.

The new law required osteopaths to register with the Ministry of Health, in order to be officially allowed to practise the therapy. Dossiers needed to be submitted by 31 March 2019.

In order to regulate the practice and ensure each practitioner would be adequately qualified, the Ministry of Health requested proof of diplomas and training, receiving 189 submissions to date.

So far, 140 of the submissions have been approved and have received the authority to continue offering the treatment to patients. The remainder of the submissions are still subject to investigation by the ministry.

The Ministry of Health will publish the list of authorised practitioners in full on their website soon.
