POST Luxembourg has announced that their pricing structure for letters and packages will change on 1 May. Whilst sending letters will become more expensive, sending parcels will become cheaper.

As of 1 May, the postage for a standard letter will rise by an average of 10 cents.

The cause of the price increase, according to the POST Luxembourg press release, is that the volume of letters posted is falling by 5% each year due to email communication amongst both individuals and companies.

As a result, the prices of posting letters has been adapted upwards, although these prices remain in line with European tariffs.

The press release outlined that the last pricing updates occurred on 1 September 2015.

As for stamps, current stamps will remain valid until 1 May. They can be used afterwards, but will require addition stamps. New stamps will be available through all POST Luxembourg outlets on 1 May.

Whilst the announcement sees a rise in the cost of sending letters, the constantly developing e-commerce market has seen a sharp increase in the amount of parcels sent in the Grand Duchy. As a result, sending parcels will become cheaper.

New pricing from 1 May 2019

The prices for standard letters in the XS category (up to 50 gr) will increase by 10 cents to €0.80 for national postage. The price will rise to €1.05 for European postage and €1.40 for worldwide postage.

Registered letters (Recommandé) will go up from €4 to €5.

XL parcels (up to 10 kg) will be €1.20 cheaper, costing €7.20. As for XXL parcels (between 10 and 30 kg), national postage will fall by €0.90 to €9.60.
