In May 2018, the charity Stëmm vun der Stroos (Voice of the streets) launched a crowdfunding campaign on the website Gingo to raise funds to afford a new oven.

The charity provides homeless people and those in difficulties with free warm meals, amongst other things. The charity has launched a new crowdfunding campaign on Gingo, and this time has the support of two Luxembourgish sports personalities.

The new campaign is to collect fund in order to continue with the charity's many social projects in the Grand Duchy.

The former basketball player and now Special Olympics trainer Marco Rock, known as Rocky, and retired tennis player Gilles Muller have both thrown their support behind the charity.

In videos posted by Stëmm vun der Stroos on their Facebook page, both Rocky and Muller call for people to donate towards the charity's latest campaign. They ask for people to do as they did and support the charity.

The charity hopes to raise €30,000 in order to finance the salary of a cook who would work 20 hours per week in the charity's social restaurants.

On Gingo, the charity explains that in the last three years, the number of meals served in their social restaurants in Esch-sur-Alzette and Hollerich have risen by 66%.

In 2015, the charity servced 64,996 meals, a number which rose to 107,918 in 2018.

Examining the statistics of the Hollerich social restaurant, the rise is even more alarming: from 45,722 meals in 2015 to 78,704 in 2018, the number has risen by 72%.

The statistics justify the need for an additional cook.

In addition to providing hot meals to those in need, the charity also provides much-need social help by helping those struggling reinsert themselves in working life with work experience.
