Education First (EF) published its annual survey on the mastery of the English language in non English-speaking countries on Tuesday.
For the first time ever, Belgium's English levels were rated "very good". But what about Luxembourg?
Belgium scored 63.52% at the annual EF index, which saw them moving up the ranks to 11th place out of 88 countries and regions. This improvement can mainly be credited to the Flemish half of Belgium, although the French-speaking half in Wallonia still managed to get a rating of "good".
Heading the ranking is Sweden (though they have dropped significantly in meatball rankings). They eclipsed the Dutch with their phenomenal rating of 70.72%. The Netherlands came in second place at 70.31%. Germany comes in 10th place at 63.74%.
However, leaving all other countries in the region behind is Luxembourg in 7th place at 66.33%! Just as the Grand Duchy's German and Belgian neighbours, Luxembourg was rated "very good".
The French on the other hand did not fare so well. They came in 35th place attaining only the level of "average".
