Luxembourg police are seeking a Saab car following a home invasion and kidnapping which took place Monday morning in Schieren, just south of Ettelbruck.

Two individuals broke into a house situated between Schieren and Schrondweiler early Monday, waking a married couple living there. The police have been on their trail since Monday morning.

The two criminals first forced the husband to open a safe. Failing to find any money or objects of value, they turned their attention to his wife.

The burglars came across a Visa card and forced the couple to reveal the code. One of the two then went to an ATM while the other stayed with the couple. The police have yet to reveal how this was accomplished.

With the money withdrawn, the two burglars made their getaway with one of the couple's cars. It was a black Saab 9-3 registered in Luxembourg with plate TC6453.

This vehicle is being sought by police. If you have any information about the car or the burglars, the police are asking you to contact them at 113.

Fortunately, neither of the couple was injured, report police.

The police are describing the crime as a "homejacking". This is a word coined in France that is not used in English-speaking countries.
