Weather services are preventively ringing the alarm bells: minor floods and heavy gusts of wind as strong as 80km/h could hit Luxembourg on Sunday.

Responsible for increased summer droughts and winter floods, climate change does not spare the Grand Duchy.

Authorities are keeping a watchful eye on the Sûre, Alzette, Chiers and Syre rivers this Sunday. According to weather services, up to 30 liters per square meter will pour down on Luxembourg within 12 hours. Drivers beware: aquaplaning on motorways is not to be underestimated.

The first images of overflowing waterways have already reached us. The following pictures were taken near Esch-sur-Sûre:

Heavy gusts of wind of up to 80km/h are also likely so forest and park walks should best be avoided for your own safety.
