Several petrol stations, especially in the Moselle and Steinfort area, are experiencing shortages in Diesel and petrol. It is not yet known, how much of an issue this could be.

The reasons behind the shortages are twofold.

On the one hand, the low water level of the Rhine river makes it harder for transports to reach Luxembourg.

On the other, the "Gilets Jaunes" petrol price strikes across France have meant that Luxembourg's access has partially been cut off.

A representative of the ministry for the economy stated that the current situation is a "slightly tenser but normal state".

The representatives cited the circumstances in France, Belgium and Germany and said that these factors currently complicate the logistics of getting petrol to Luxembourg.

The representative also stated that there is no reason to be concerned.

If petrol should ever start to run low, the government has substantial petrol reserves that could be used to help petrol stations.
