Economy minister Etienne Schneider inaugurated the bridge connecting the Eurohub South logistics park and the CFL's intermodal rail and lorry terminal on Thursday.
The bridge will connect the Eurohub South site directly to the lorry and rail terminal, which in turn will ease traffic congestion by allowing lorries to use the bridge instead of local roads.
Luxembourg's logistics sector has been significantly developed since 2013: 250,000 square metres of logistics space has been developed or is in the process of being developed. This is equivalent to more than 35 football stadiums and accounts for around €250 million invested by the companies involved. Schneider, as economy minister, confirmed these statistics.
Two companies will also build additional infrastructure on the Eurohub South site. WDP will build new buildings for the Auchan group and the FIRST robotics group.
The Arthur Welter company will invest in constructing a new head office and logistics hall for merchandise on the Eurohub South site. The firm's investment of €20 million will create 50 new jobs.
