Smartwielen, a project of the University of Luxembourg, is a collaboration with the Zentrum fir politesch Bildung.
The portal, Smart Voting in English, is, according to the information found on the website, an adapted version of smartvote, a so-called VAA (Voting Advice Application) that was first developed in Switzerland in 2003 and is operated by the politically neutral, non-profit organization Politools.
On it, users can gauge where their political leanings lie.
Guided through a number of reference points to legislation, wider topic son public spending and wider issues such as defense spending and tax breaks/hikes, users will arrive at the matching section.
Here the public can see exactly how the parties have answered the very same questions asked throughout the questionnaire. The results can be surprising, not least in where your own standpoint actual is, but also dispelling some of the grey areas of where party's interests are actually indicated.
In the profiles section users can read information on the different parties, their personnel and the districts in which they cover.
The site can be navigated in Luxembourgish, German, French and English.
