A year ago, four passionate, young researchers: Gregory Nain, Asaad Moawad, Thomas Hartmann and François Fouquet, decided to launch a startup – DataThings.
They were lucky enough to be accepted by, and settle into, the Paul WURTH InCub: a Luxembourg incubator which fosters young companies with great potential in key areas.
Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
DataThings specializes in Machine Learning (#ML) and Artificial Intelligence (#AI). Its aim is to promote the use of decision-making tools in the industrial sector, with the latest machine learning technologies.
The four researchers created a data analytics technology called GreyCat. This can store and treat large-scale, real-time data (for example, data from sensors). ‘Live learning’ is a nascent and exciting field.

DataThings’ focused on demonstrating sustainability and the generic nature of GreyCat for industry this year. Paul WURTH, who sponsored DataThings, became its first client. But now they have secured a partnership with CREOS, Cyprès International and the young Parisian start-up GISGO.
Collaboration with Lyon
DataThings is also working with the city of Lyon, in France, to use artificial intelligence to develop a water resource management system, as part of the European Project H2020 bloTope.
Made in Luxembourg
They have obtained the prestigious ‘Made in Luxembourg’ label and won a prize during the Mind & Market 2017 forum in Luxembourg.
With all this achieved in one year, DataThings and GreyCat can now think about expanding the young company, more research and development of new partnerships in the industry.
