There is simply no reason to feel sad summer is over, with sixteen family-oriented happenings to brush off any beginning-of-autumn blues.
Hello dear Families, Travellers and Explorers - I hope you all had a great summer vacation, or maybe you are still enjoying your holidays? Of course everyone knows the Schueberfouer, so I'm pleased to share a list of sixteen less known activities to enjoy in and around Luxembourg.
1: Visit the Potato Fest (or, as the locals say, 'Gromperefest')
When: 3 September 2023
Where: Binsfeld, Luxembourg
Children can pick up potatoes, check out the tractors, enjoy other kid-friendly activities and spend the day outdoors. Entrance and parking are both free. More info
2: Pumpkimania Pumpkin Festival
When: 8 September 2023
Where: Castle Grand-Bigard, Brussels
Maybe it is too early to talk about pumpkins but this festival starts on 8 September, so why not? It takes place in the beautiful gardens of the Castle Grand-Bigard and wishes to show the many different varieties of pumpkins in existence. Believe it or not, there are more than 800 varieties! Another big highlight of the festival is a huge pumpkin-encrusted dinosaur - and of course pumpkin soup will be served. Tickets required. More info

3: Trier Museum Night 2023
When: 9 September 2023, 6pm-Midnight
Where: Trier, Germany
Similar to Luxembourg Museum Night, Trier Museum night offers a chance to visit the city's museums. The event has a rich program, with guided tours and children's activities on offer. More info

4: Stroosefestival

6: Medieval Festival Koerich, Luxembourg
When: 16-17 September 2023
Where: Chateau de Koerich
The Medieval Festival in Koerich is an annual event that offers visitors the opportunity to travel back in time and learn about the Medieval age in an interactive way. Shows, DIY stands, food, drinks and other activities offer something for everyone. You can also find a children's playground just opposite Koerich Castle. This is a great, family friendly festival worth a visit. More info
7: Naturmusée-Fest 2023
When: 17 September 2023 from 11am-6pm
Where: Luxembourg Natural History Museum, Luxembourg City
An absolute hit with the kids, the Natural history Museum opens its doors and gives the opportunity to everyone to discover the Museum and participate in different activities around the theme of nature, biodiversity, and more. More info
8: International Puppetry Festival
When: 16-24 September 2023
Where: Charleville-Meziers, Ardennes, Grand Est France
Oh la la! Les Marionettes. Not far from Luxembourg, the world of the puppetry opens its doors at an international festival where artists from all over the world present their spectacles and their love for this magical art form, mesmerizing audiences and countless fans from around the world.
You can enjoy amazing shows, workshops and more. The shows listed on the website also indicate suitability for different age groups. More info

9: Nuit des Lampions

10: Children’s Literature Festival, Bertrange Luxembourg

12: TravelmatKanner Sunday Family Brunch
When: 24 September
Where: Nyx Wine & Food, Belval Luxembourg
The long wait is over. Luxembourg's favorite Sunday Family Brunch returns.
A great opportunity to meet and socialize but also enjoy a nice relaxing moment. Children will enjoy fantastic activities and face painting and, of course, there will be plenty of delicious food.

13: Luxembourg Museum Night 2023

This year's offering takes place across Luxembourg City. Child-friendly activities in the afternoon offer an opportunity to explore the museums of the city and what they have to offer.
