Welcome to the weekend! Hear indie rockers Giant Rooks, pick free clothes, dance hip hop, watch Batman Begins or party after local rap concert.
1. Hear indie sensation Giant Rooks

German indie-rock favourites Giant Rooks have been making giant steps around the globe in recent years, winning over new audiences with their soul-stirring anthems and energetic performances. Bring your dancing shoes to this gig and get ready for a sweaty night of singalongs.
See Today Radio's suggestions on TikTok!
2. Join the hip hop crew in January
3. Dive into centuries-old cider tradition
What: Wassail day
Where: Ramborn Cider Co, Duerfstrooss 23, L-6660 Born
When: Saturday, 13 January as of 3.30pm – info & tickets
The friends at Ramborn cider invite you to celebrate Wassail with them, an old custom dating back to the Anglo-Saxon times when people would drink hot spiced cider, sing songs and bless the apple trees. Raise a glass to the health of the orchards and enjoy some live music, tasty Luxembourgish soup and of course plenty of cider. Places are limited, so it is recommended to book your tickets in advance.
4. See Ritter Rost play for kids
What: A not-so-brave knight
Where: Opderschmelz, 1a Rue du Centenaire, 3475 Dudelange
When: Saturday, 13 January at 3pm – info & tickets
Ritter Rost is a wonderful children's character by German writer and illustrator Jörg Hilbert. The main character is a fearful knight who would rather lock himself up in the loo with a newspaper than stand bravely like a warrior (even though he believes he is the strongest knight in the world). Together with his friends from the castle he goes on all kinds of adventures, so this will be a lovely (German-speaking) comedy play for kids on Saturday!
5. Watch Batman Begins
What: Action adventure
Where: Cinémathèque, 17 Pl. du Théâtre, 2613 Luxembourg
When: Saturday, 13 January at 4pm – info & tickets
Enjoy this Christopher Nolan classic on a lazy but gripping Saturday afternoon: After witnessing his parents' death, Bruce learns the art of fighting to confront injustice. When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he decides to stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city.
6. Donate your clothes and exchange new items
What: Clothes swap run by volunteers
Where: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 166 Rte d'Arlon, 8010 Strassen
When: Saturday, 12 January–Sunday, 13 January between 10am–6pm - more info here
Organiser Casi reached out to us about the Lëtz Upcycle Clothing Exchange taking place this weekend in Strassen. Over the month of December, generous amounts of clothes were donated to the organisation. Volunteers then sort them and give them away for free at the Clothing Exchange weekend. Take whatever calls your name, at no charge, at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They're always looking for more donations and volunteers (who get early access before it opens to the general public). Let's go, sustainable clothes shopping!
7. Party with Turnup Tun
What: Local rapper/producer & afterparty
Where: De Gudde Wëllen, 17 Rue du St Esprit, 1475 Luxembourg
When: Saturday, 13 January at 8pm (party at 10pm) – info & tickets
Local rapper and producer Turnup Tun is turning 30 and he chose to throw a big party at the Gudde Wëllen. He's going to perform a special show alongside numerous special guests from Luxembourg and abroad. The concert is followed by an afterparty on all floors: Dream DJ Team, a notorious DJ-Duo from Vienna, DJ FAB, Contrôle Technique and local legend DJ DEE are gonna make you dance until the early morning hours! (PS: The afterparty is free for the public, even for those who couldn't get a ticket for the concert).
