The presidents of Russia, France and Germany, US Vice President Mike Pence and Britain's Prince Charles are set to address the sombre event at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial centre in Jerusalem in the presence of Auschwitz survivors.
Israel in Belgium tweeted: "HRH Grand Duke Henri has arrived in #Israel to attend the World Holocaust Forum held in #Jerusalem. We're delighted that the Grand Duke of #Luxembourg will take part in the commemoration marking 75 years since the liberation of #Auschwitz."
The Grand Duke will join US Vice President Mike Pence, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Prince Charles of Britain, King of the Netherlands Willem-Alexander, King Felipe VI of Spain and many more.
The United Nations designated January 27—the anniversary of the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau —as a day for member states to honour the Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of other victims of Nazism.
