Luxembourg was in the spotlight of this 12th edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, which ended yesterday with the award ceremony.

The animated feature film "The Swallows of Kabul" directed by Zabou Breitman and Éléa Gobbé-Mévellec, co-produced in Luxembourg by Stephan Roelants of Melusine Productions, has won two awards.

The Swallows Of Kabul, an animated film co-produced by Melisune Priduction and largely produced in Luxembourg, returns with the prestigious 'Valois de diamant' for best film, which was awarded by a jury under the presidency of British actress Jacqueline Bisset.

In addition, Alexis Rault is recognised for the soundtrack to the film with the Valois of music.

The Angoulême Francophone Film Festival this year paid tribute to Luxembourg cinema and in particular to Pol Cruchten, screenwriter, director and producer from Luxembourg who died not long ago.

Six feature films, a documentary and two Luxembourg short films were in the spotlight and reflected the diversity and richness of the national audiovisual sector.

The Grand-Ducal Couple was also present at the closing ceremony of the Francophone Film Festival of Angoulême. S.A.R. the Grand Duchess had the honor of participating in the presentation of the Valois de Diamant to Z. Breitman and E. Gobbé-Mévellec for the film "The Swallows of Kabul".
