From 4 October until 7 October, Luxembourg will be hosting its first Durga Puja 2019 – an Indian festival which brings together food, literature, theatre and performing arts.

The celebration - which is an annual Hindu festival in the Indian subcontinent that reveres the goddess Durga - will be held at the ‘Sall am Duerf’ in Itzig.

Although Durga Puja literally means ‘worship of warrior Goddess Durga’, the festival embodies good over evil, and marks the goddess - a ten-handed, weapon-bearing divinity - as the motherly power behind all of life and creation. Besides that, the celebration is also a chance to express gratitude for the annual harvest to the force behind all life, the Supreme Power.

The festival in Luxembourg is organised by LuxUtsav, who promise delicious Indian and Bengal dishes and modern rituals for 4 days of Indian tradition.
