Ville de Luxembourg have announced that, despite it being mid-Jan, your old tree will be picked up....provided you follow some instructions.

Christmas trees that have been spray-painted and/or are still covered in decorations will be removed with the weekly household rubbish collection.

Clean Christmas trees – those that have not been spray-painted and whose decorations have been removed – will be collected separately, on the same day as household rubbish is collected, or the next day.

These trees will used for composting.

To ensure your tree 'qualifies', simply place your Christmas tree on the pavement outside your property before am on your usual household waste collection day (the collection calendar can be viewed at dechets.vdl.lu).

Please note that trees taller than 2 metres must be cut in half.

Unwanted Christmas trees can also be dropped off at the Recycling Centre on Route d'Arlon, which is open Monday to Friday between am and 7.30 pm, and Saturdays between 8.30 am and 6 pm.
