In memory of rock legend Tina Turner, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 83, our archive colleagues at RTL did some digging and found her memorable performance in the Grand Duchy in 1996!

The show took place at Stade Josy Barthel on 4 September, 1996. The Luxembourg gig was part of her ninth world tour, the 'Wildest Dreams Tour", which included over 250 shows in Europe, North America and Australasia.

The European leg sold 3 million tickets alone. Nearly 25,000 people saw her perform in Luxembourg.

The audience included Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Terese (back then hereditary), as well as Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla.
"She came, sang and convinced everyone," the headline of Luxemburger Wort read following the show. The at the time 56-year-old entered the stage at 9.20pm, launching into "Whatever You Want Me To Do", followed by "Private Dancer", "GoldenEye" and "We Don't Need Another Hero".

Music magazine called her "one of the greatest voices of all time".

Oh, there still seems to be an original concert poster up for sale!
