Are you ready for a crazy birthday bash at one of Luxembourg's funky music venues, unleashing your child's inner Hip Hop talent, or taking in a thrilling Luxembourgish theatre production? There's plenty of choice for the whole family to kick off this cosy December.

1. De Gudde Wëllen turns five!

Cake time! One of Luxembourg's finest music venues is celebrating five year existence. Throughout this half decade they have established themselves as favourites amongst international and local artists.

Four DJs will rock the floor, while three acts are set to perform in the basement. Not sure whether there will actually be cake, but first come first served would definitely be the motto should there be one. Party starts at 10pm until the early hours, and entry is free.

2. Jazz and Beyond: Paolo Fresu / Richard Galliano / Jan Lundgren

What: European Jazz Trio 
Where: Philharmonie, 1 Place de l'Europe

Paolo Fresu (trumpet, flugelhorn), Richard Galliano (accordion) and Jan Lundgren (piano) have a charismatic musical connection on stage, resulting in a melting pot of jazz, classical music, and chanson-style arrangements.

Commenting on the fact that all three musicians come from different parts of our continent, France Musique claimed that the trio is able to "awaken and bring to life the sounds of Europe". Tickets are available starting €15. Have a listen below to get an impression of the concert:

3. Theatre: Dealing with Clair

After the hugely successful production of Stupid Fucking Bird last season, director Anne Simon now takes on the thrilling play by Britains's Martin Crimp.

Dealing with Clair tells the story of young couple Mike and Liz, who are anxious to sell their London house. They tell their estate agent Clair that they want to act honourably and accept the first offer at their already inflated asking price. But then James enters the scene, an enigmatic picture-dealer with a higher cash bid and unfathomable motives. Quickly all ethical notions go out of the window. Clair is caught in the middle of the couple’s double dealings and receives slightly too much attention by both the male seller and the potential buyer...

4. Hip Hop for Kids: Music workshop

What: Unleash the Snoop Dogg inside of you

Text, beats, and a whole lot of energy: those are the main ingredients of Hip Hop! This interactive workshop will introduce youngsters and their families to the different facets of Rap and Hip Hop.

The Luxembourgish rapper David Galassi, in collaboration with a DJ and a beatmaker, will give an introduction to this urban musical culture. The participants will then dabble in turntables, samplers, texts and rhythms to compose a song with some serious flow. Yo!

5. Apéro Jazz with Arthur Possing & Claire Parsons

What: Weekend dose of jazz
Where: Brasserie Neimünster, 28 rue Münster

The two young jazz stars Arthur Possing and Claire Parsons are bringing together their shared passion for soul, nu-jazz and groove. Both hailing from Luxembourg, they have pursued their individual careers on international levels, but once in a while appreciate the return to our capital for a soulful collaboration.

Expect a rhythmic and energetic set on this Sunday morning, composed of original compositions and a couple of classic covers by their favourite musicians.

6. Classics Before Christmas: Edward Scissorhands

What: Quirky Christmas movie
Where: Cinémathèque, 17 Place du Theatre

Ahh, it's time for the Christmas Classics again! Good fun that Cinémathèque is hosting a whole bunch of them in the upcoming weeks. Up first: Edward Scissorhands.

Edward, a synthetic man with scissor hands, is taken in by Peg, a kindly Avon lady, after the passing of his inventor. Things take a turn for the worse when he is blamed for a crime he did not commit...

7. Beauty and the Beast

What: The world's most beautiful love story
Where: Trifolion Echternach, 2 Porte St Willibrord
When: Saturday, 7 December (5pm)

The Ballet Ensemble FANTASIO presents a performance of Beauty and the Beast this Saturday at Trifolion. What to expect? An emotional story about an enchanted prince, romantic and dynamic pas de deux, breathtaking ensemble scenes and special solo dances.

Along with the unique dance performance, FANTASIO is known for its impressive stage decor and costumes. Fairytale time for young and old!
